Brief Therapeutic Intervention
18.9 million working days are lost each year as a direct result of workplace conflict.
Impact Mediation understands that workplace conflict can have a detrimental effect on individuals’ workers causing stress and emotional trauma which can lead to high absenteeism and low productivity. Our therapeutic intervention service has proved successful in empowering individuals to cope with and move on from workplace conflict. This therapeutic intervention can be identified at initial assessment or as a part of the mediation process.
We also recognise that conflict within team dynamics can lead to decreased productivity, low motivation and morale, interpersonal conflict and an increase in disciplinary and grievance procedures. There are many reasons why a team can become dysfunctional and fragmented ranging from individual personality clashes to difficulties in adjusting to change and by using our brief therapeutic intervention service Impact Mediation will be able to tailor make the best package to support your organisation in addressing team dynamic issues.
After the initial Impact Mediation assessment if brief therapeutic intervention has been identified as part of your action plan we will then provide your organisation with a therapeutic assessment and action plan which may include one or more of the following interventions:
Workplace Counselling: Individual face to face confidential counselling with identified individuals for a period of 6 sessions. This would support the individual to identify, explore and separate work and home based issues, to raise self awareness and understanding, to learn and implement new coping skills and develop an individual development action plan. Workplace counselling may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques, journal keeping and role play.
Mentoring: Through mentoring we will support identified individuals within the workplace, supporting them to reflect on and assess their interpersonal skills, communication skills and role within the team dynamics and to then empower them with the skills to become a more effective team member. Mentoring could include therapist observation and assessment, 1:1 meetings to reflect on observations, action planning and on the floor support and advice.
Personal Development Workbooks: Impact Media has designed a Personal Development Workbook for individuals. This workbook supports individuals to raise their level of self-awareness and gain an understanding of team dynamics by working through a step by step programme which would be completed by the individual and assessed by a therapist. The workbook can be completed remotely and interaction between the individual and therapist can take place via the internet or post.
Team Development: Impact Mediation will work with your teams to identify and address underlying issues. Team development would be delivered in a group work format as a one off event or as ongoing team support over a longer period of time. Team development could include the following techniques; team building exercises, role play, forum theatre, group dynamics work, raising awareness of interpersonal and team dynamics and establishing a healthy and productive team ethos.
Impact Mediation will regularly review the effectiveness of the intervention and will adjust the action plan if necessary to reflect the changing needs of the individual and organisation as we move through the process.
Impact Mediation will provide you with fully qualified and experienced professionals who specialise in intervention work.
